OMNI – a unique moving network
It was on 12 November 1986, that a small group of inspirational moving industry leaders, breathed life into the Overseas Moving Network International (OMNI). They did so by bringing together two competing European networks, Eurovan and CETI, to create one, cohesive, trading group of around 250 leading international moving companies that could both serve, and include, members worldwide.
From the start it was clear that OMNI was different from other industry organisations. Being exclusive, focussing only on the market leaders in each country, and requiring a minimum tonnage commitment to the network from each of them, its numbers consolidated over time to form a nucleus of excellence unlike anything else before or since.
The main guiding principle of OMNI is that it operates purely on an agent-to-agent basis, giving every origin agent a choice of top-quality destination partners, thereby ensuring healthy competition and always excellent service.
Throughout everything it does, OMNI is not tactical, it is purely strategic. For example, from its early days, its continual programme of educational seminars and specialist presentations are aimed at business owners and senior management to help them run their businesses better. Similarly, the annual OMNI conference, provides a haven of peace in which top executives can relax, share ideas and formulate long-term plans, away from the frenetic activity of other, sales oriented, business events.
In this regard, OMNI is unique. It is powerful, driven by the extraordinary tonnage its members generate, yet sufficiently flexible to help its members as they react to continually changing market conditions and customer demands.
Despite a changing world, and a constantly developing industry, OMNI continues to thrive and, as the world faces an increasingly uncertain future, is more relevant today than ever before.
