Grace rejoins OMNI: a strategic return
After years of global industry change and shifting commercial realities, Grace has rejoined OMNI, reaffirming its commitment to international partnerships and long-term, sustainable growth. While this marks Grace’s return to the network, it is the first time conditions are fully aligned to support enduring success.

Grace was previously a member of OMNI but was required to withdraw in 1996 following its acquisition by Jim Thompson, owner of the Crown Worldwide Group. At the time, OMNI operated under a One Continent Rule (OCR), which restricted members from operating across multiple continents in order to encourage agent-to-agent exchange. As globalisation accelerated, the OCR became increasingly impractical and was formally abolished in 2011.

Grace’s renewed membership reflects the evolution of the OMNI network alongside the industry it serves. Combined with the significant consolidation of the Australian moving market, Grace is now better positioned than ever to realise the full value of OMNI’s global collaboration model.

Grace International Manager Stephen Bonollo described the decision to rejoin OMNI as commercially sound, noting that Grace already maintains strong reciprocal trading relationships with many OMNI members—relationships that are expected to deepen further over time.

Beyond commercial benefits, Stephen Bonollo highlighted the broader strategic value of the network, and the opportunity for Grace’s senior leadership to spend meaningful time with leading owners and executives from across the global industry, especially at OMNI conferences.

Grace is Australia’s largest mover, with origins in the iconic Grace Bros retail empire established in 1885. The moving business commenced operations in 1911 and has since built a formidable reputation within the industry. Today, Grace operates across full-service household goods removals, corporate relocation, commercial moving, fine art services, contract logistics, and is Australia’s second-largest records storage and information management business. Internationally, approximately 65 per cent of Grace’s business is consumer-driven. Its largest markets include the United States, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand while also operating a large number of groupage lines. Despite ongoing consolidation in the Australian moving market, competition remains strong. “We will be driven by value,” Stephen Bonollo said, emphasising a focus on partners that deliver competitive, high-quality services. In many ways, Grace’s return to OMNI feels less like a reunion and more like a recalibration—of timing, scale, and ambition.
