SBK in Sweden brings unique service to OMNI
SBK in Sweden is one of the most recent international moving companies to join the OMNI network. It’s also one of the oldest, being able to trace its history back almost 140 years.

The company was started in 1888 in Västernorrland in the north of Sweden. At that time, its founder, Goran Goransson made a living transporting baggage from the local railway station to hotels. The current owners bought the company from him and has now seen five generations of their family work with SBK.

Christoffer Westin, is the managing director, based in Stockholm. He explained that SBK has chosen an ‘asset heavy’ model, operating its own warehouses in Sweden, including Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, its own fleet of around 55 vehicles, and an experienced staff. SBK also has offices in Cannes, France, from where Patrik Sundin, the current (fourth generation) owner works; and Marbella, Spain. “There are very many wealthy Swedes living in the South of France and in Spain,” said Christoffer.

SBK has build itself a niche business in Sweden by focussing on intra-European traffic by road, both for the trade and its own customers. “We have around 15 trips a month servicing most countries in Europe all with our own vehicles and crews,” explained Christoffer. “No other company in Sweden provides that level of service.”

The company also has deep sea work and, now that it is part of OMNI, is planning on expanding that side of the business. SBK is already a member of IAM, FIDI, Eurovan and Harmony, so why was being part of OMNI so attractive? “OMNI represents the leading companies in the world,” said Christoffer, “and we want to be part of that.”

Michael Skoglund

Christoffer will be attending the OMNI conference in Kyoto in May alongside his colleague, Michael Skoglund, who joined the company in 2023, and is already well known to the group. Both Michael and Christoffer are shareholders in the company.
