On 29 July, Sobolak in Austria had the opportunity of helping out the local fire service in a time of need.
The fire department had invested in a large hose cleaning machine. This machine cleans the fire hoses very quickly and puts them back on the reals saving a great deal of time for the firefighters. But it’s a big machine, not one that the fire service could handle itself. This is where Sobolak stepped in.
The machine was shipped from Hamburg by a German forwarding agent to the Sobolak warehouse in Vienna, then transhipped onto a fire service truck. The Sobolak fork truck, the only one available large enough to handle the weight, was then given a blue-light escort through the streets of the city to unload the machine at the fire depot 1km away.
It’s a rare occasion when a private company can assist the emergency services, rather than the other way around.
